Yesterday’s; Today’s; Tomorrow’s

Yesterday’s; Today’s; Tomorrow’s

Jheez...the last four weeks have flown by. It seemed like only yesterday that I was filling my allocated section of The Prince’s Trust shop (Tomorrow’s Store) with Labels Are Limitations® merchandise. The bulk of the range was from my brand’s present SS15 range.

So how was the set up?

I arrived a good 90 minutes before official set-up time of 10am on the 29th May, as I was keen to establish the Labels Are Limitations® pop-up whilst leaving enough time for potential decision changes from either the store owners or myself. I was somewhat nervous as I am a bit of a perfectionist. I must have changed my mind at least three times regarding the layout as I wanted to make sure that I was doing my brand and our ethos justice – of being clean cut and contemporary whilst “making a statement”. Having three rails allocated to my brand meant that I had to be sensible with how I laid out the various designs I had. I had to ensure the SS15 designs took priority whilst not taking too much away from previous collections. Getting the positioning of my posters and picture frames right within the window display area was key too! I think I managed to achieve this quite well...

Our time -

Our time at the shop has easily been amongst the best times the brand has had since its inception. I managed to get into the store 3-4 times a week to enable myself to meet and greet [potential] customers. The staff – Sally-Anne (manager), Harry (Assistant Manager), Valia and Josh (retail assistants) – were sound; the atmosphere was brilliant; and most importantly of all – the visitors/customers were amazing. Even when sales were not made, just having the opportunity to personally explain to others what my brand is about was a satisfying feeling!

My favourite day of the pop-up was easily the Father’s Day event which happened on the 17th – an event put together by Britain’s Makers, but co-hosted with ourselves and M-24 Bags

Family, friends and other passers-by were welcomed with a drink and a bite to eat on entering the store and our respective pop-ups. I was delighted to see amongst attendees, my parents, as well as friend and poster-girl of our SS15LAL campaign Helen Lloyd.

Our Roses tee drew a lot of popularity and sold out quite quickly – it was our statement piece of the collection and can be found in our SHOP!

Departing.

By the time Thursday afternoon had hit, my mind had already switched to the pending dismantlement of my pop-up which I had to do. I remember admitting to staff that it would feel weird not coming into the shop on a regular basis to conduct stock checks and to float around being “one of the young designers”. After desiring to be inside the shop for well over a year – my time had come and passed – time flies...

That being said, The Prince’s Trust has to give all businesses they've inspired/supported a chance to exhibit/sell their works – and I am proud to have had Labels Are Limitations® at Tomorrow’s Store for the duration of June.

Where next?

You will have to wait and see. I do not like to reveal the specific intentions of my brand too early. Just keep an eye out for us ;)... I write this whilst listening to the Paris Morton Music 2 part of Drake’s Pound Cake and ignoring the fact I am not at Glastonbury 2015 rolling in the hype!

More from Labels Are Limitations® soon.
